MY CAREER

After completing my BSc and MSc in Psychology from the University of Leeds I started out my career working on in-patient mental health wards.  Firstly as a Support Worker then as an Occupational Therapy Assistant

Throughout my studies and employment I have volunteered in helping to support the mental health and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities (Mencap) and in palliative care (St Luke's Hospice). I volunteered as an Assistant Psychologist and co-presented a pain management programme helping to support people living with chronic pain (Medical Psychology Department at Leicester General Hospital). I also volunteered as an Honorary Research Assistant at the Clinical Psychology Department (University of Leicester)

I qualified as a Psychological Well-being Practitioner from the University of Sheffield working within a busy NHS Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service. My role involved assessing and treating clients with common mental health problems (such as stress, depression and anxiety). I worked with clients on a one-to-one basis as well as presented psycho-educational groups delivering CBT-based guided self-help interventions

I then went on to obtain my distinction in the Post Graduate Diploma in CBT from the University of Nottingham. I’m fully accredited by the BABCP and proud to be an Ordinary Member of the Yorkshire branch and enjoy helping set up local events and training

My role involves conducting CBT assessments to help the client and I to come to a shared understanding of their difficulties and the impact they're having on their lives.  I provide evidence-based treatment for depression and a range of anxiety disorders (please refer to FAQs for details on what I specialize in) in accordance with NICE guidelines

Being an evidence-based-practice, CBT is continuously evolving so I make sure I’m familiar with the latest developments and regularly attend training to keep my knowledge and skills up to date.
