I don’t want to be a hypocrite.
I used to think as a therapist I “should” be able to sort out my thoughts and feelings on my own. But then I realised, I'm only human too.
I want to advocate getting help when you need it, so I don’t want to be a hypocrite by not seeking that help myself when needed.
I now know from being on the receiving end the difference getting the right therapist and learning the right techniques can make. It can be life changing.
So I’m not ashamed to admit I found myself struggling and I can say with total confidence it was the best thing I did for my own mental health and wellbeing to seek help myself.
So I wanted to share a small insight into what I learned...
Learning to observe your thoughts as they come and go, just like the clouds move across the sky, is a really powerful thing. The sky behind the clouds is always there, it’s constant. Just like you are. Your thoughts and emotions will come and go, like the weather. So if you can learn to observe these as they come and go, rather than getting “hooked” onto them, this enables you to relate to your own thoughts and feelings from an entirely different perspective
